The incumbent serves as a Commercial Specialist in the U.S. Embassy Jakarta, and an advisor to the Senior Commercial Officer (SCO) and other Commercial Officers. As a professional analyst and advisor to the U.S. staff in planning, organizing and administering programs to facilitate the marketing of U.S. goods and services, the incumbent provides a wide range of advice and assistance to U.S. firms, including developing marketing strategies and long-range planning, preparing market research and reporting, organizing trade shows and events, and creating opportunities designed to facilitate exchanges between U.S and host country business representatives.
Qualification Required:

- Bachelor’s degree in economics, marketing, engineering, business administration or related field is required.

- Must have a thorough knowledge of the Indonesian economy in general and of Indonesian business customs, practices, marketing channels, laws, regulations and policies relating to assigned commercial functions.
- Must have a sound knowledge of U.S. business practices and official policies as related to international trade and investment.
- Must have the ability to develop and maintain an extensive range of appropriate mid and senior-level contacts in the Indonesian government and private sector. The incumbent analyzes and reports on policy and commercial developments in four of the following subject areas: trade and investment, entrepreneurship, macroeconomics, and development, energy and minerals/natural resources, international economics, internal economics affairs, telecommunications and information technology, and aviation, transportation, and other economic sectors and issues according to U.S priorities. S/He develops and exchanges views on economic policy issues of U.S. interest with a broad range of contacts in the government, academia, business, and non-profit sectors. S/He advises economic officers on engagement strategy with government of Indonesia interlocutors and other institutions in Indonesia, coordinates and executes all logistical arrangements for projects and short-term Temporary Duty and VIP visitors to Indonesia, and supports public diplomacy outreach efforts.

- Good working knowledge of Indonesian economic policy, business practices, and government policies.
- Ability to analyze and interpret data, to prepare precise and accurate reports in English, to work with outside Indonesian counterparts and Embassy budget and fiscal, procurement, travel, and public affairs staff.
- Good computer skills, including spreadsheet, information and data collection.
